This past Saturday, the New York Iota Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at SUNY Fredonia completed its 25th Annual Tree Trot in 2025, continuing a cherished holiday tradition that blends endurance, service, and community impact. Brothers carried a Christmas tree on foot in a relay-style run from Fredonia’s campus to Buffalo, covering more than 40 miles to deliver holiday cheer to a family in need.
With the support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara, and the Southern Tier, the chapter was able to connect with a local family to receive the tree, helping brighten their holiday season. A special thank you goes to Paula D’Amico of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara, and the Southern Tier for her partnership and support in making that connection possible.
This year’s Tree Trot raised $1,210 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. The funds will help further the organization’s mission of mentoring and empowering young people.
For more than two decades, the Tree Trot has remained a hallmark event for the chapter, symbolizing Sigma Phi Epsilon’s commitment to service, tradition, and giving back. Through challenging weather and long miles, the brothers continue to deliver both tangible support and holiday joy, bringing the campus and surrounding community together during the season of giving.
